On-demand Services: Made in the Likeness of TV?
The European Audiovisual Observatory published recently in its IRIS plus 2013-4 the article entitled: On-demand Services: Made in the Likeness of TV? by Francisco Javier Cabrera Blázquez analysing the difficulties of regulating on-demand audiovisual media services under the rules contained in the AVMS Directive.
The Article evaluates whether on-demand AVMS really resemble traditional broadcasting and to what extent the two compete with each other. It explains the scope of the AVMS Directive and provides examples of its implementation in the national legislation of some EU member states.
