The Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA), the French regulatory authority, notified the European Commission of its draft Decision setting up the conditions for the transmission of short extracts of sport events and other events of high interest to the public.

The draft decision follows a public consultation of 17 April 2012 on the right to make short extracts of sport events’ retransmissions available to the public by way of electronic communication. It is the second step in the implementation of the provisions of the Law of February 1, 2012 on sport ethics and the rights of the sportspeople. Further to the law, the CSA has been granted the power to “set the conditions for the transmission of the short extracts”.
