Estonian regulator changes name further to merger with Consumer Protection Board

The Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority started operations since 1 January 2019

As of 1 January 2019, further to the proposition of the Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure, the Estonian Technical Regulatory Authority (TRA) and the Estonian Consumer Protection Board have merged to form the new Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (in Estonian: Tarbijakaitse ja Tehnilise Järelevalve Amet - TTJA). The aim of the merger was to strengthen the capacity of the national consumer environment and market and safety supervision. The new agency fulfils all the tasks of the two agencies so far.

There are five departments in the new structure of TTJA: Engineering, Construction, Transport, Communication and Consumption.
