KAVI joins the EPRA network

At the 53rd EPRA meeting, which was held online on 20 May 2021, EPRA members officially endorsed the membership application of the National Audiovisual Institute of Finland, KAVI.

  • The National Audiovisual Institute is a central governmental agency under the Ministry of Education and Culture and was formed in January 2014 as a result of a merger between the National Audiovisual Archive and the Centre for Media Education and Audiovisual Media.
  • Its tasks include the preservation of films and television and radio programmes as well as research related to them, and the promotion of audiovisual culture. KAVI is also responsible for the promotion and coordination of media education at a national level, and the supervision of the provision of audiovisual programmes from the perspective of protection of children.

KAVI becomes the 55th member of the network, after the Swedish Media Council joining EPRA last year, and is the second Finnish authority to be part of EPRA together with the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (TRAFICOM).
