Bringing the community of European media regulators together
The European Platform of Regulatory Authorities brings together media regulators from across Europe. We are the oldest and largest network of our kind, with 56 regulatory authorities from 47 countries.
What We Do
Founded in 1995, EPRA is an independent, informal and neutral space.
It exists so regulators can talk openly, share experiences and learn from each other.
Through two annual in-person meetings, hosted by different national authorities, and regular online working groups, members share insights, discuss new regulatory developments, and address common challenges together.
How We Operate
Our cooperation is voluntary and strictly non‑political.
We never take common positions or issue statements. That independence is what makes honest, practical exchange possible.
EPRA is non‑profit and self‑financed.
Our small Secretariat is hosted by the European Audiovisual Observatory in Strasbourg, helping to guarantee our independence. It is guided by an elected Board of experienced regulators who serve in a personal capacity.
Our Network
EPRA brings together regulators from every member state of the European Union, the UK, EFTA members, EU candidate countries and the EU’s Eastern Partnership.
We also work with other regulatory networks, academics, industry experts and international organisations.
Our permanent observers include the European Commission, the Council of Europe, the European Audiovisual Observatory and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.
EPRA’s open, informal environment makes it easy for members to learn from one another, stay informed about new trends and policies, and respond more effectively to challenges in media regulation.
EPRA stands for independence, shared expertise, and a supportive, practical approach to media regulation in Europe.
