CNMC to host the 10th MNRA Technical Commission Meeting on 1st July in Madrid

The 10th MNRA Technical Commission Meeting will be held in Madrid (Spain), on 1st July 2016. Under the current MNRA Vice-presidency – CNMC (the Spanish National Commission for Markets and Competition), this meeting will decide on the presentation of the study on sexist stereotypes in commercial communications, the update on the progress of the working group on gender equality in audiovisual sport programmes, the update on the progress of the working group on the future of MNRA and the discussion on the Plenary Assembly.

The CNMC was elected as Vice-President of the Mediterranean Regulatory Authorities Network (MNRA) for 2016 during the 17th Plenary meeting held in Split, Croatia, on 1- 2, October 2015. The commitment assumed by CNMC implies to hold the MNRA Presidency in 2017.

The Mediterranean Regulatory Authorities Network (MNRA/RIRM) was created in 1997 in order to strengthen the historical and cultural links between Mediterranean countries, and to give the opportunity to the independent regulatory authorities from the Mediterranean area to exchange about the common media challenges they have to face. It acts in favour of the freedom and the liability of communication in the Mediterranean Basin based on the fundamental principles for the regulation of audiovisual contents.
 
The MNRA/RIRM is currently comprised of the regulatory authorities of France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Albania, Morocco, Israel, Serbia, Jordan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mauritania, Lebanon, Former Yugoslavic Republic of Macedonia, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Gibraltar, Tunisia and Moldova.
