French CSA consults on short extracts of sport events

On 17 April 2012, the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA), the French regulatory authority, has launched a public consultation on the right to make available to the public, by way of electronic communication, short extracts of sport events’ retransmissions.

This consultation is the first step in the implementation of the provisions of the Law of February 1, 2012 on sport ethics and the rights of the sportspeople. Further to the law, the CSA has been granted the power to “set the conditions for the transmission of the short extracts”.
