In 2014, the regulatory authorities of Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Portugal, Spain (CNMC, the Andalusian CAA, the Catalan CAC, the Valencian CACV)) decided to create PRAI a platform of exchange where they could share their experience and take joint decisions. The regulatory authorities of Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador and Mexico have joined the platform since. The authorities of Costa Rica and Morocco have observer status.

PRAI's main goal is to be a think tank on audiovisual regulation. It enables its members to discuss legal matters of common interest and to debate and solve disagreements between regulatory authorities.

The Network of French-speaking media regulatory authorities (REFRAM) met for the first time on 1st July 2007 in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso. 

REFRAM works towards the consolidation of the rule of law, democracy and human rights. it aims at establishing and strengthening solidarity and exchanges between its members. It is a forum for debate and exchange of information on issues of common interest and fosters training and cooperation between its members.

This platform comprises media regulatory authorities from 32 French-speaking African and European countries as well as Canada. The Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) has observer's status.
