EBU-EPRA Cooperation on major events across Europe: updated table

Newly updated EPRA-EBU table listing the events of major importance across Europe

Updated in January 2026 with the new Italian list

We are pleased to inform you that thanks to the active cooperation of EPRA members and the coordination of the EPRA Secretariat, the Media Intelligence Service (MIS) of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) produced an updated Excel table gathering information regarding the lists of events of major importance for society in Europe. The updated list, which covers 31 countries and is accurate as of November 2025, is now publicly available on the EPRA website and on the EBU website (free access - login-in required).

The table refers to the lists approved in different European countries under the auspices of Article 14 of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive and/or Article 9a of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television.

The updated dataset is organised in three tabs:

• The Simplified List offers a quick overview of the major events listed in each country,
• The Detailed List offers information about which part of the competition is protected.
• The third tab provides the definition of qualifying broadcaster in each market, that is, what conditions a broadcaster need to accomplish to qualify as a candidate to broadcast any event of major importance for society.

Key changes in the overview table:

• New lists have been introduced in France, Croatia, Portugal, Serbian and Italia.
• New entry: the table has been updated with the list of Ukraine.
• Further details and corrections: some EPRA members have added more information/corrections to the list.
