New President and two new members for French regulator ARCOM

Martin Ajdari is Arcom's new President 


Following the proposal by French President Emmanuel Macron and the endorsement by the National Assembly and the Senate, Martin Ajdari was appointed President of Arcom, the French regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication, on 2 February 2025 for a term of six years.

He replaces Roch-Olivier Maistre who chaired Arcom between 2022-2025, having been appointed as CSA Chairperson on January 2019.

Martin Ajdari was previously inter alia Deputy-Director General of Radio France, administrative and financial Director of Radio France Internationale (RFI) and Director of Cabinet at the Ministries of Culture and Communication. He was appointed head of the Ministry's Directorate-General for Media and Cultural Industries in 2015 before returning to the Opéra national de Paris in 2020 as Deputy-General Director. Two new members were appointed to Arcom board for a term of 6 years:

  • Romain Laleix, former Deputy-Director General of the Centre national de la musique (CNM) replacing Anne Grand d’Esnon. He was appointed by the President of the National Assembly;
  • Catherine Jentile, a journalist replacing Hervé Godechot and appointed by the President of the Senate.

The other current members of the Arcom board are:

  • Juliette Théry, appointed by the Senate in 2022;
  • Antoine Boilley, appointed by the Senate in 2023;
  • Benoît Loutrel, appointed by the National Assembly in 2022;
  • Bénédicte Lesage, appointed by the National Assembly in 2023;
  • Laurence Pécaut-Rivolier, appointed by the Court de Cassation (highest civil Court) in 2022;
  • Denis Rapone, appointed by the the Council of State in 2022.

The Arcom board is composed of nine members: the President of Arcom, appointed by the President of the Republic; three members appointed by the President of the National Assembly; three members appointed by the President of the Senate; one member appointed by the Vice-President of the Council of State; and one member appointed by the First President of the Court de Cassation.
Arcom prepares its deliberations in thematic working groups. Each member of Arcom's board chairs or co-chairs a working group and acts as vice-chair of a second group. Arcom is structured around eight working groups
