The European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA) held its 30th meeting in Dresden, on 14 to 16 October 2009 at the invitation of the Directors Conference of the State Media Authorities (DLM) in cooperation with the regional regulatory authority for private broadcasting and new media from Saxony (SLM).

On this occasion, over 150 delegates from 49 European regulatory authorities met to discuss topical issues pertaining to media regulation. They were joined by the permanent observers from the European Audiovisual Observatory and the European Commission.

In line with the preferences of EPRA members, the AVMS Directive was at the centre of the debates this time. The first plenary session dealt with “Non-Linear Services: Market Evolution & Regulatory Challenges”, while the morning of the second day was devoted to a session on “AVMS Implementation: Mission Accomplished or Mission Impossible?”

In order to allow for more practical and focused discussions, three simultaneous working groups convened in the afternoon of 15th October to discuss “Political Advertising”(WG1); “Self and Cross Promotion” (WG2) and “Media Pluralism” (WG3).

The next meeting of the EPRA is scheduled for 12-14 May 2010 in Barcelona at the invitation of the Catalan Audiovisual Council (CAC).
