Empowering media regulators for tomorrow: EPRA’s 2026 Work Programme addresses critical issues across a changing landscape

The Executive Board adopted EPRA's Work Programme for 2026 on 23 January in Brussels.

EPRA has conducted two internal consultations and has incorporated the feedback that was received from the membership into this revised programme. The Board also reached out to several external partners from industry, academia, institutions and NGOs to collect their ideas.

In 2026, EPRA’s four prioritised topics are: protecting children and young people online, declining trust in media and society, accessibility, and classifying services in a fast-changing media market.

All discussions will be underscored by the transformative role of artificial intelligence as a cross-cutting theme throughout the year.

Overarching and cross-cutting themes

  • Protecting children and young people across digital media (plenary session in Dublin, October 2026)

  • Declining trust in media and society: consequences for the information environment and how media regulators can respond (plenary session in Dublin, October 2026)

Specific and technical topics for case-based peer learning

  • Making content available for all audiences (plenary session in Tirana, May 2026)

  • Classifying services in a fast-changing media market (plenary session in Tirana, May 2026)

Online working groups

EMIL: the Media and Information Literacy Taskforce gathers a large number of EPRA members, as well as some external organisations active in the field of MIL and media literacy networks. EMIL’s aim is to encourage coordination and learning, foster networking and partnerships and give media literacy networks a voice.
