The committee operates under the supervision of the Council of Europe Steering Committee on Media and Information Society (CDMSI) and draws upon the existing Council of Europe standards and the relevant jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights. On this occasion, the MSI-JOQ elected Ms. Katharine Sarikakis (Professor of Communication Science, University of Vienna) as its Chair and Ms. Alexandra Borchardt (Director of Strategic Development at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism) as its Vice-Chair.
The following conclusions and decisions have been made during the meeting:
The draft recommendation on promoting a favourable environment for quality journalism in the digital age will be drafted by Ms. Nadia Bellardi and Mr. Darian Pavli, while the study on the promotion of media and information literacy in the digital environment will be produced by Ms. Martina Chapman and Mr. Markus Oermann.
