New President for the Turkish regulator RTÜK
Mr. Mehmet Daniş has been elected as the new President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) on 24 October 2025.
He was first elected as a Member of the RTÜK by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and started his duty on 27 July 2021.
Mr. Ebubekir Şahin, who has served as RTÜK President for four terms, did not run for re-election this term and is replaced by Mr. Mehmet Daniş. Alongside him, Mr. Orhan Karadaş was re-elected Deputy President.
Mehmet Daniş, a graduate of Istanbul University Faculty of Law, served as a Member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye for the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th terms.
He served as a Clerk Member of the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Türkiye), Presidency Council and Chairman of the Parliamentary Petition Commission as well as Deputy Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in the 64th and 65th Governments.

The Supreme Council has nine members elected by the Turkish Parliament based on party representation and for a six-year term, with one-third of the Council renewed every two years. The members elect a President and Deputy President from among themselves, each serving a two-year term.
