New chairperson for Dutch CvdM

Prof. Dr. Madeleine de Cock Buning, commissioner at the Commissariaat voor de Media (CvdM) since July 2009, has been appointed chairperson of the Dutch regulatory authority CvdM as of 1 April 2013 by the State Secretary of Media Affairs.

In addition to her work for the CvdM, she is also professor of Copyright and Media Law at the University of Utrecht and chairing the Centre for Intellectual Property Law (CIER) and the Centre for Access to and Acceptance of Autonomous Intelligence (CAAAI) hosted by the same university. Other positions held by Madeleine de Cock Buning are Honorary Judge of the Court of Appeal of The Hague, panellist of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), member to the Advisory Committee on Copyright to the Ministry of Justice and editor of the professional magazine "Intellectual Property and Advertisement Law" (IER). Madeleine de Cock Buning started her career as a lawyer for a law firm specialised in Intellectual Property & Information and Communication Technology.
