Media Literacy: German LfM reports on 2012/13 activities

On 31 October 2013, the Media Authority of Northrhine Westphalia (LfM) published the Media Literacy Report for 2012/13. The Report offers a comprehensive overview of the promotion activities carried out in the field of media literacy by the LfM in the North Rhine-Westphalia region. The promotion of media literacy is one of the main legal duties of the LfM.

The Report provides information about the wide range of  activities aiming at the promotion of media literacy such as creating information websites (e.g. "internet-abc"), publishing educational materials, promoting community media and developing cooperation with players and institutions working in the field of media literacy at national, regional and local level.

Several information campaigns and training programmes were held by the LfM at schools,  for example  “Initiative Parents + Media”, which aimed to broaden knowledge about media literacy and improve media competences among parents, young people and teachers.
