On 26 October 2012, The Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA) published a market review on the audiovisual content services. The review looks at the different ways how Finns watch audiovisual content, and is based on the data reported by operators and on the consumer survey carried out by TNS Gallup Oy.
The market review shows that the number of IPTV subscriptions in Finland is growing and has reached 226,000 in June 2012 (increase of 18% in 6 months).
Television is still the most important way to access audiovisual content in Finland. However, two thirds of respondents to the consumer survey said that they watch short video clips on Internet. It is rather rare to pay for watching audiovisual content online. Only 14% of people who watch audiovisual content online have paid for it, mostly to watch movies or sport events. The majority of respondents are not going to change the way they watch audiovisual content in the nearest future.
