A modified structure for the French CSA

Echoing the far-reaching changes of the media environment and as a consequence of its new duties on public service broadcasting and economic regulation introduced by the Law of 15 November 2013, the French regulator CSA announced a modified internal structure of its services on 8 June. The new Organisational Chart provides for the creation of:

  • a Directorate of TV Media and a Directorate for Radio to bring closer issues of frequency management, licences and content: a "one-stop-shop for operators";
  • New Departments for "Public Service Media",  "Social Cohesion" and "Protection of the Audience" within the Directorate of Programmes to give more room and visibility for the relationships with public service broadcasters and better serve viewers;
  • a General Secretariat for the Regions to intensify the CSA's relationship with all the radio and television outlets, especially the local ones.
