The Consell Andorrà de l'Audiovisual (Audiovisual Council of Andorra) is a consultative body to the government of Andorra and to the state Radio and Television Company of Andorra. It receives financial and administrational support by the government and carries out its functions in functional and organic independence. It consists of five members nominated by the parliament for a term of five years. The presidency of the Council is carried out in a rotatory system for a period of six months by the Council's members.
According to the Law on broadcasting and television and on the founding of the public broadcasting Company of Andorra of April 13, 2000, the Council produces consultations and reports for the government and the state Radio and Television Company. It safeguards the right of reply, the rights of the minorities and the minors and it assures that there be no discrimination for reasons of race, sex, religion or opinion and it prepares draft laws on audiovisual matters.
